Supporting Yorkshire's Rugby Clubs
The Immediate Support Fund has been created by the RFU and the Yorkshire RFU to provide rugby unions clubs in Yorkshire with financial support to deal with current, short-term cashflow issues.
The aim of the fund is to support the most vulnerable clubs in the region. We’re trying to help as many clubs as possible through this process and there is a limited amount of funding available. Initial applications should relate to one in-month cashflow issue. Further applications can be made to the fund should support still be required in subsequent months.
As we learn from our experience of supporting clubs, we may amend the process in the future. We’ll update you immediately if we need to make any changes.
Who can apply?
All rugby union clubs in our region can apply to the Fund. We ask however that you only apply after you have fully investigated all other sources of support. It’s important, for example, that clubs draw on any reserves they may have before applying to the Fund.
We’d also encourage clubs to make full use of all the Government and local authority support that is being made available.
How do I apply?
We’ve made applying to the Fund as simple as possible. We’d like you to send an email to the County Office summarising your request. Keeping the email short and focussed will help at all stages of the process! The email address for the County Office is cb-honsec-yorks@rfu.com
We’ve attached the letter from the RFU which outlines the criteria for applying for funds. Your email to the County should explain how your application meets this criteria.
We’d also like you to complete the attached cashflow forecast form and to provide us with information about your club’s current cash position; this should be a simple statement of cash against creditors. This will help us to understand the context in which you are making your application.
We know that this is sensitive information and we can assure you that it will only be shared with individuals who need to see it in order to make decisions to award money from the Fund.
We’ll also need your bank account details. This will enable us to make payments promptly once these are agreed.
When you are making your application, please ensure it is as accurate as possible.
Who’s assessing the application?
The County Officers will meet every Friday to assess the applications. They will be joined by Toni Birch, who heads-up club development, and together they will form the Immediate Support Fund Panel. Decisions will also be informed by input from our District Chairs.
Clubs will be informed of Panel decisions and funds will be paid to successful clubs as soon as it is practical to do so.
What happens next?
Please get your applications to us as soon as possible. The Panel's first meeting to consider applications will take place on Friday 17th April so it would be helpful if you could submit them to us as soon as possible and before this date.
