Sharing ideas for keeping in touch during lockdown
It’s been brilliant to again see so many fantastic examples of what we’re all doing to keep in touch during the lockdown.
Heath, Sheffield Tigers and Huddersfield are keeping everyone informed with regular updates on club signings. Halifax have launched a Strava Club and are challenging members to improve their 5km performances. Not to be outdone, Halifax Ladies held a virtual end of season party on Saturday night.
We loved Harrogate Ladies’ performance statistics and Sheffield Oaks are posting regular updates on club activity. They are also hosting virtual quizzes and a Lions’ watchalong.
Wharfedale have come up with a unique fundraising idea by commissioning a piece of artwork to auction. Ilkley have been rising funds for the NHS through a series of activities and smashed their initial fundraising target of £100 , eventually raising over £3000 for NHS charities.
We loved Scarborough’s “Stars of the Future’ video and we always like it when clubs celebrate players who get to proudly wearing a Yorkshire shirt.
It’s been great to see so many clubs and schools supporting our Yorkshire-born England 7s players as they’ve been fundraising today. Ellie, Abi and Jodie have been in some very familiar kits as they’re raising money for the charities Mind and Muscular Dystrophy UK. (Our favourites are the Yorkshire kits of course)
And don’t forget, England Rugby are providing a wide range of online resources for clubs. You can be inspired by Eddie Jones, learn some new fundraising ideas or register for Online Mental health Awareness course. Have a watch and then put in a call with teammates and fellow volunteers to discuss what this means for your club.
We like sharing and celebrating the best examples of how you are keeping in touch every Tuesday. If you’ve got any initiative, you’d like the share with the rest of the County, let us know and we’ll include it in this update.
PS Sheffield Hallam have now run about 1000 miles and raised about £1000 – great work!
