YOUR JUNIOR COMMITTEE
We should like to take this opportunity to explain the structure of the North Yorkshire District Committee and to introduce the committee members responsible for the administration of the Player Development Programme for the 2012/2013 season at all age groups from Under 13s to Under 17s throughout the North Yorkshire District.
The North Yorkshire District Junior Committee will consist of a Chairman, Secretary and a Head Coach from each age group. These will be joined on the committee by other representatives from each age group and a referees’ representative.
We are delighted to announce that the District Chairman – Player Development (U13-U17) is Ian Nichols, Secreatry is Ruth McHenery and Colin Clark is Coach development
Ian’s role is to ensure the programme is administered successfully. Colin’s role is to improve coaching development and Ruth’s role is to try to co-ordinate communications through the district coaching teams at all age groups.
What we are looking for at each age group is the following structure:
Head Coach, Team Manager, Forwards Coach, Backs Coach and Assistant Coaches.
We are also delighted to announce the following appointments as Head Coach for each age group:
U13 - Bob Simpson
U14 – Duncan Burgass
U15 - Matt Pitt
U16 – Mike Armstrong
U17 - Robert Snook
We also require a number of impartial selectors (approximately 9 or 10) to help with the teams’ development. If you would like to be considered please contact Ian Nicholls with a brief outline of your playing and coaching career.

Our Objective
To provide the opportunity for every junior player in the district to play at the highest representative level of rugby that he is capable of and to support the player’s development with an appropriate standard of coaching.

Job Description
Terms of Reference for the Player Development Chairman of the Yorkshire Districts.
Chairs to Chair the meetings of the District Player development committees.
Chairs to attend / liaise with Yorkshire committees as appropriate. The main one being the Yorkshire U13 – U17 Committee.
To ensure the proper functioning and management of the respective Player Development age groups U13 – U18 in the District.
Reports (using what ever method is most appropriate) to the Senior and Mini Junior District committees.
Liaises with the Chairman of the Yorkshire Player / Playing Development Committee (Paul Taylor).
Liaises where and when appropriate with the Chairman of the County Teams Development committee (Ted Atkinson).
Terms of reference for the District Player Development Committees.
To develop excellence in playing and to support the Coaching and Refereeing elements of the district programme.
To appoint (in unison with the Yorkshire Coaching Committee), oversee, assist and co-ordinate the coaches, referees and team managers in the various age groups.
To plan a coherent (in line with the RFU structured season) playing programme across the District and in coordination with the other Yorkshire District chairs.
To develop a robust communication policy to ensure all clubs and schools are aware of the elite player pathways and the events taking place in area, district and county levels
To provide a structure to ensure that the progress of players fundamentally - but also coaches and referees are developed and monitored.
To make recommendations to Yorkshire via the current Player / Playing Development chairman Paul Taylor and the U13 – U17 Chairman and Secretary Graham Turnbull & Dawn Rathmell respectively.
To liaise with Colin Clark as regards to District off field kit.
To liaise with Yorkshire (Playing / Player Development Chairman) over the District Player Development Budget.
To manage and report upon the allocation of the Yorkshire District annual budget.

The Yorkshire County Coaching Sub-Committee is inviting experienced coaches to register their interest in being involved in a coaching capacity. Coaches are required at District, County and School of Rugby at all levels for the 2010/2011 season.
