Combined Age Grade Sides 2012-13
U6s; U7s and U8s
15.3.1 Players who are in the U6 age grade (but not U5s or below) are permitted to train with U7s and U8s. A player in the U6 age grade or below is not permitted to participate in fixtures or festivals with U7s and U8s until they have reached the age of six. Players under the age of six are not permitted to participate in any types of fixtures, matches, competitions, tournaments or festivals.U7s and U8s can train and play together in fixtures and festivals. Thus:
• 6 years olds U7 and U8s may now play together without further documentation although it is always good practice to obtain informed parental consent when young players are playing up.
• Tag Rugby players who have reached their 6th birthday, U7s and U8s could be one team. Our advice to clubs is that wherever possible clubs should continue to field individual Age Grade sides as this will help continuity and the building of Age grade sides for the future. Some clubs who struggle for numbers may have to play combined sides but this could present problems when their players move to U9s and they may not have enough players for an effective squad. Clubs are likely to want to check just who they will be playing when they confirm fixtures and they may find they are now able to field more than one side. When combining U7/U8s the team plays to the rules of the lower age.
U9s and U10s
• can play together as U9s; no more than half the players on the pitch at any one time from the older age grade, and playing to the younger age grade rules
U11s and U12s
• can play together as U11s; no more than half the players on the pitch at any one time from the older age grade, and playing to the younger age grade rules.
Application - the CB has a form for this purpose.
Complete the form making the request, provide details of the numbers in your age grade squads and get the figures validated by a club official and either an RDO or a CRC and then submit to Dawn Rathmell – Yorkshire Age Grade Secretary – email@example.com. And the dispensation will be listed on the Dispensation List which will be circulated to all Cubs within the County.
Listing on the Dispensation List confirms that the Dispensation has been properly applied for and approved and clubs are asked to respect and accept these dispensations.
When completing the dispensation forms clubs should ensure that their figures are accurate as they will be checked. In particular clubs should ensure that inactive members in specific age grades are removed from their Rugby First lists as these may distort the picture of a club's playing resources at those age grades.
