A Grand Day Out - beyond doubt
The Yorkshire RFU Grand Day Out on Saturday 14th May 2022 was a huge success on every front
The Yorkshire sunshine was out in full force and putting on its best.
West Park Leeds hosted everyone so well, and a big thank you to all those involved at the club for putting on the event.
The place was buzzing with activity throughout the day with the clubhouse alive with chatter about all things rugby.
The double header fixture of the Roses games against Lancashire was a spectacular thing to see and from the first whistle at 1pm of the Women's Gill Burns Championship game to the final whistle after 4:30 of the Men's Bill Beaumont Championship, it was all out rugby entertainment.
The Women's game was electric from the opening kick off, with both teams working hard in both attack and defence. Yorkshire opened the scoring but didn't get it all their own way by any means as Lancashire were always threatening from start to finish
Final score 36-5 to Yorkshire
The Men's game was set align from the opening kick of with Yorkshire scoring inside the 1st minute. Some time keepers had the try as scored in 25 second!!
Lancashire were not phased and fought back quickly and the game was a tense arm wrestle for the full 80 minutes.
final Score 33-31 to Yorkshire
Big thank you goes out to all the supporters who came out on to watch, to all those reporting, filming and capturing the moments and to the County teams for putting all the parts to together to put on a show of County rugby that everyone could enjoy and celebrate.
