A statement from Yorkshire RFU about what's happening.
Yorkshire Rugby Football Union are pleased to confirm that we are working with the RFU, Premiership Rugby Limited (PRL) and Leeds Beckett University to deliver the Regional Academy in Yorkshire.
Following the recent financial difficulties at Yorkshire Carnegie it was agreed that the club was unable to continue the operation of a Premiership Academy and its focus should be on being able to compete in the Greene King IPA Championship. To avoid the loss of the Academy, it was agreed that a new company would be created and that the Academy infrastructure, finances and staff would transfer to this new entity. This new entity, Yorkshire Rugby Academy, will continue to operate as before, delivering the Academy and DPP in Yorkshire and working with our counties clubs’.
As part of the Yorkshire Rugby Academy partnership, Ted Atkinson on behalf of the County will join the operational board. Further updates will be provided in the coming months as specifics are confirmed. However, we as a CB wanted to provide an update to our clubs and to the county at this point.
I am sure you will agree that this is an exciting step for the development of rugby and our clubs within Yorkshire and we are naturally delighted to be working with the RFU, PRL and Leeds Beckett to deliver this.

Chairman of Yorkshire RFU
