Wetherby RUFC is a progressive and ambitious Yorkshire Rugby Club who have achieved exceptional success in recent years.
We have a raft of young, largely home grown, naturally talented women who have joined the women’s section of the club. We are currently also going through a recruitment drive at the moment to expand our club
We are looking for a qualified coach to further develop and harness this talent and progress during the coming season and beyond.
Reporting to the Director of Rugby, the coach will have responsibility for:
• Position specific coaching across the team as required
• Mentoring assistants and volunteers to provide the best player experience for the women’s team
• Formally planning coaching sessions in advance especially if not able to attend
• Deliver training sessions to a mixed ability group.
• Ensure that all sessions are designed to develop the skills and understanding of the players in the squad.
• Attend match days where possible
• Review and evaluate games and coaching sessions with the coaching team and players.
• Selection for match days
• Support player development by engaging with player pathways
• Liaison with the Club Coach to ensure a consistent standard of delivery
Skills and Qualities required will include:
• Minimum RFU Level 2 coaching qualification/new rugby coaching course with coaching experience, ideally with women players
• Rugby knowledge - the Coach will be experienced in order to enable the players to achieve their potential
• Planning - responsible for planning the coaching programme for both the season and individual sessions (dependant on level)
• Leadership - sets an example and standards for the coaching team and playing squad.
• Commitment, energy and enthusiasm
• Team Work - able to work effectively with players, other coaches, club management
• Pass a DBS check
Training is generally on Wednesday and matches on Sundays.
