Please see message below received from RFU Safeguarding regarding the newly launched DBS Update Service - August 2023
Many of you will have seen that automated emails are being sent to applicants following their DBS application submissions now. This is to promote the DBS Update Service and we'd advise all applicants consider subscribing to this service with their next RFU DBS application.
All staff and volunteers requiring a DBS check will now be prompted to join the DBS Update Service. We have been communicating the introduction of the DBS Update Service over the last year and can now confirm the RFU’s platform went “live” on the 30th August 2023.
This service is free for volunteers, with a £13 annual fee for paid applicants. Now that it has launched, applicants undergoing new DBS applications (through the RFU’s system) will receive an email encouraging enrolment in the Update Service upon receiving their DBS certificate.
Once applicants have subscribed and provided consent for the RFU to monitor their status, applicants can undergo annual checks through the Update Service, eliminating the need for a new DBS application every 3 years, provided no details, roles, or check levels change.
