On behalf of both the RFU and Yorkshire can I thank you for all your hard work over the season ensuring that our clubs are a safe place for young people to enjoy rugby!
Please enjoy your summer, and take some time away from the game, and hopefully return refreshed later in the year. If you are standing down from your role, please let me know, I am sure you will be missed by your club, and I will offer support to your replacement.
I have spoken to a number of you over the year, either at a Play It Safe course, or to assist with enquiries at your club, I have found all of these an enjoyable experience, and it is fantastic to see the passion you have for both Safeguarding and Rugby! We have had few serious incidents in the county this season, but the major concern continues to be the behaviour of spectators on the pitch side, and the lack on intervention by the home club in dealing with this. We continue to strive to make rugby an enjoyable and safe place for all, and support those that are doing the same.
We will be in contact again before the start of the season with details of when we will start to accept applications for playing out of age grade!
If you have any queries/questions over the summer, please contact me at: safeguarding@yorkshirerfu.co.uk
Yours in rugby
