Tackle Prostate Cancer Background
Did you know that in the UK 1 in 8 people will get diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime? That risk increases with age, ethnicity and if there’s a family history of prostate cancer.
Tackle Prostate Cancer, is the UK’s only federation of support groups who help those who are impacted by prostate cancer. The 120 support groups that are dotted around the country (including several in Yorkshire), are run by and are for those who are affected by the condition. They exist to help the individual diagnosed, their partners, loved ones and peers through all stages of their prostate cancer journey (pre, during and post); because as we know, sadly it’s not only the person diagnosed who’s world can turn upside down. Tackle also helps people set up their own peer support group, so if you feel that there’s a space for something like this in your local area then please do get in touch.
To find your local support group, head to the Tackle website which can be found here.
