This role is ideal for coaches who are passionate about developing young female athletes, enjoy being part of a collaborative team, and are looking to gain experience in a high-quality development environment. You won’t be expected to lead or manage delivery independently, but you will play a key role in supporting the on-field coaching and learning environment.

• Help implement the technical focus areas of the programme (catch/pass, carry, tackle, movement).
• Create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all players.
• Be an active and reliable member of the coaching team, helping with logistics and session setup where needed.
• Engage with player feedback processes and IDP support as guided by the Head Coach.
• Take part in coach development and mentoring opportunities led by the Head Coach and Programme Lead.
• Maintain alignment with the RFU talent pathway approach and curriculum.
• Experience in coaching within age-grade rugby or talent development settings.
• Passion for working with and developing young female athletes.
• Willingness to learn, contribute and be part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to Saturday morning sessions and seasonal programme delivery (up to 24 days).
• Full UK driving licence.
• DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
Desirable:
• Experience working within pathway or academy-style programmes.
• Good understanding of player-centred coaching.
About the Programme
Now entering its fourth season, the Yorkshire U16 Girls PDG (previously known as DPP) is refining
its structure to enhance quality and impact. In 2025/26, the programme will move from two centres
to one, improving cohesion and elevating player and coach experience.
The programme will also support a group of emerging players in their club environments through ad
hoc development sessions, ensuring inclusivity and flexibility in the pathway.
Our Objectives:
• Build a strong foundation of core rugby and movement skills.
• Foster creative, decision-making players capable of adapting in dynamic game environments.
• Equip players with the physical, technical, and psychological tools to excel at the next stage.
