This week Yorkshire Carnegie Academy launched a new initiative to find the next Carnegie STAR for their ERDPP programme.
Based on feedback from clubs, at the recent Stakeholder Forum, it was identified that a document outlining the characteristics of potential academy players would be beneficial.
The new STAR guidelines show the traits Yorkshire Carnegie look for in potential ERDPP players:
Skilful – Players who have the ability to catch, pass, evade and tackle under pressure
Tactically Aware – Players with good spatial awareness, creative and good decision makers
Athletic potential – Players with agility, balance, co-ordination, speed stature and power
Resilient – Players who care coachable, train hard, seek and rise to challenges
Clubs and schools are encouraged to nominate players who display the attributes of a potential academy player. The process is open to coaches of Under 13 to Under 16 teams and all nominations should be sent to ERDPP@yorkshirecarnegie.com
